Depends on the use case. For most DACH SMBs, n8n on your own EU servers is the right pick: Open Source, GDPR-compliant, no per-execution cost, fully extensible with code. Make.com works well for fast no-IT entry. Zapier we use only on explicit request and when no sensitive data is in play. Custom code (Node.js or Python) when no-code hits a wall.

EU hosting by default: n8n runs on servers in Frankfurt or Hetzner Germany. LLM requests go through GDPR-compliant endpoints (OpenAI Azure EU, Anthropic Claude with confirmed data flow) or self-hosted models (Llama, Mistral). DPA contracts provided. No data in US cloud without explicit agreement.

Yes. n8n has over 400 ready-made integrations including DATEV ASR, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Microsoft 365, Slack, Microsoft Teams. What isn't out of the box we build with custom nodes or direct API integration. If the system has a REST API or webhook, we can connect to it.
